Pigs, Hog, Swine
This issue introduces the students to swine. For over 10,000 years this has been and remains an important domesticated animal. Students learn various swine terminology. They will also learn the life cycle of a market pig and how pig farmer care for their animals. All of their efforts are to produce a high-quality protein rich food called pork. The hogs also provide us more than meat, they provide the raw materials to make many of the items we use every day. This reader also discusses antibiotics and their use with livestock.
