Colorado Cattle Country
This reader introduces the students to ranching and taking care of cattle. It shows the yearly cattle ranching timeline. It discusses some of the new technology that is being used on today's ranches. Conservation of land and water resources are importants practice in raising cattle. And when you look at a map of Colorado, cattle are raised in nearly every county of the state. One-third of Colorado's counties are economically dependent on ranching. Cattle are a ruminant animal and can eat grasses and convert it to nutrient rich beef. In addition to beef, there are many by-products made from products we get from cattle.
